Il prossimo 22 febbraio il Senato ospiterà la presentazione del nuovo branch internazionale di CONFASSOCIAZIONI. Confassociazioni Australia, diretta dal Presidente Giovanni Patti, si unisce alle delegazioni Canada, Spagna, UAE, UK ed USA espandendo la strategia internazionale di Confassociazioni.
Su iniziativa del Sen. Francesco Giacobbe, Segretario della 9a Commissione Permanente del Senato (Industria, commercio, turismo, agricoltura e produzione agroalimentare), si terrà il prossimo 22 febbraio (ore 10:30), presso la Sala dell’Istituto Santa Maria in Aquiro del Senato della Repubblica la presentazione di Confassociazioni Australia.
All’incontro, parteciperanno il Sen. Giacobbe, parlamentare eletto nella circoscrizione estera Africa, Asia, Oceania, Antartide, Angelo Deiana, Presidente di CONFASSOCIAZIONI e Carmelo Cutuli, Vicepresidente di Confassociazioni International con delega ai rapporti con Nord America e Australia ed il Presidente di Confassociazioni Australia, l’Avv. Giovanni Patti.
L’Italia e l’Australia sono collegati da vincoli storici e condividono significative relazioni commerciali in diversi settori, con un consistente flusso di esportazioni dall’Italia all’Australia che supera i 4 miliardi di euro. Entrambe le economie altamente sviluppate del G20, Australia e Italia attualmente vantano un buon livello di interazione commerciale e, soprattutto, ampie prospettive di miglioramento. Tuttavia, la pandemia da COVID-19 ha determinato una significativa contrazione degli scambi tra i due paesi nel periodo 2020-2021. Nonostante ciò, i valori degli scambi sono aumentati costantemente, raggiungendo i 4,443 miliardi di euro nel 2021 e i 5,818 miliardi di euro nel 2022. Sebbene le importazioni di beni australiani in Italia abbiano registrato un raddoppio nel 2022 rispetto al 2021, il saldo commerciale rimane significativamente a favore dell’Italia, con 4,7 miliardi di euro di esportazioni nel 2022.
“Tutte le iniziative – ha dichiarato il Sen. Francesco Giacobbe – che permettono la promozione d’Italia nel mondo sono benvenute e importanti perché di interesse strategico per il nostro Paese. Per quanto riguarda l’Australia, poi, ci sarebbero mille motivi per promuovere l’intensificazione dei rapporti bilaterali, fra questi tre in particolare: la popolazione di origine italiana in Australia rappresenta circa il 5% della popolazione totale; l’Australia può rappresentare il gateway naturale per espandere la presenza italiana nell’Indo-Pacifico; l’interesse dell’Australia per i Paesi europei è elevato, infatti il governo federale sta negoziando un Free Trade Agreement con l’UE. La presenza di Confassociazioni in Australia va nella direzione di intensificare i rapporti fra Italia e Australia e sono certo che essa metterà il massimo impegno per raggiungere gli obiettivi prefissati. Il mio in bocca al lupo va al presidente della sezione Australia, Giovanni Patti, buon lavoro.”
Il Presidente di CONFASSOCIAZIONI Angelo Deiana ha dichiarato “L’inaugurazione del branch Australia di Confassociazioni sottolinea l’impegno della nostra Confederazione nel valorizzare il contributo delle comunità italiane all’estero. L’apertura di questa nuova sede testimonia la volontà di rafforzare la rete globale di Confassociazioni, con l’obiettivo di diventare una confederazione di associazioni professionali a livello internazionale. Stiamo lavorando alla costituzione di altri branch esteri, consapevoli del grande potenziale delle comunità italiane nel mondo. Vogliamo creare nuove opportunità di scambio e collaborazione tra i professionisti e le imprese dei vari Paesi in cui siamo presenti.”
Carmelo Cutuli, Vicepresidente di Confassociazioni International con delega al Nord America ed Australia, ha aggiunto. “Auguro buon lavoro al Presidente Giovanni Patti e a tutto il team di Confassociazioni Australia per questo nuovo ed entusiasmante progetto. L’apertura di un branch in Australia rappresenta una tappa fondamentale per la crescita internazionale di Confassociazioni, Italia ed Australia sono unite da vincoli storici e da solidi rapporti commerciali. Sono certo che Confassociazioni Australia, forte della professionalità del suo team, saprà creare nuove sinergie tra i professionisti e le imprese dei due Paesi, favorendo lo scambio di competenze ed esperienze”.

Italia e Australia condividono una lunga storia di amicizia e cooperazione, ne è prova anche la numerosa e molto ben integrata comunità italiana in Australia. Confassociazioni è impegnata attivamente nel rafforzare questi legami attraverso la promozione del Made in Italy, l’organizzazione di iniziative volte a favorire scambi commerciali e culturali tra i due Paesi, nonché nel rendere le rispettive comunità sempre più partecipi delle opportunità che si presentano in Australia e/o in Italia. È mio sincero auspicio, come presidente di Confassociazioni Australia, che le relazioni tra Italia e Australia possano continuare a svilupparsi trovando anche degli ulteriori strumenti di integrazione e cooperazione che possano ulteriormente rafforzare un legame già ben solido”.
Il Branch australiano di Confassociazioni rientra nella strategia di internazionalizzazione di CONFASSOCIAZIONI (Pres. Angelo Deiana) e Confassociazioni International (Pres. Gianni Lattanzio) e si unisce agli altri branch internazionali: Canada (Pres. Paolo Quattrocchi); Spagna (Pres. Francesco Perniciaro); UAE (Pres. Guido Sperzaga); UK (Pres. Stefano Potortì); USA (Pres. Claudio Frasca).

On Feb. 22, the Senate will host the presentation of the new international branch of CONFASSOCIAZIONI. Confassociazioni Australia, headed by President Giovanni Patti, joins the Canada, Spain, UAE, UK and US delegations expanding Confassociazioni’s international strategy.
At the initiative of Sen. Francesco Giacobbe, secretary of the Senate’s 9th Standing Committee (Industry, Commerce, Tourism, Agriculture and Agribusiness Production), the presentation of Confassociazioni Australia will be held on Feb. 22 (10:30 a.m.), at the Sala dell’Istituto Santa Maria in Aquiro of the Senate of the Republic.
The meeting, will be attended by Sen. Giacobbe, parliamentarian elected in the foreign constituency Africa, Asia, Oceania, Antarctica, Angelo Deiana, President of CONFASSOCIAZIONI and Carmelo Cutuli, Vice President of Confassociazioni International with responsibility for relations with North America and Australia and the President of Confassociazioni Australia, Lawyer Giovanni Patti.
Italy and Australia are linked by historical ties and share significant trade relations in several sectors, with a substantial export flow from Italy to Australia exceeding 4 billion euros. Both highly developed G20 economies, Australia and Italy currently boast a good level of trade interaction and, more importantly, ample prospects for improvement. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant contraction of trade between the two countries in the 2020-2021 period. Despite this, trade values increased steadily, reaching 4.443 billion in 2021 and 5.818 billion in 2022. Although imports of Australian goods to Italy doubled in 2022 compared to 2021, the trade balance remains significantly in Italy’s favor, with 4.7 billion euros in exports in 2022.
“All initiatives,” said Sen. Francesco Giacobbe, “that allow the promotion of Italy in the world are welcome and important because they are of strategic interest for our country. As far as Australia is concerned, then, there would be a thousand reasons to promote the intensification of bilateral relations, among them three in particular: the population of Italian origin in Australia represents about 5 percent of the total population; Australia can represent the natural gateway to expand the Italian presence in the Indo-Pacific; Australia’s interest in European countries is high, in fact the federal government is negotiating a Free Trade Agreement with the EU. The presence of Confassociazioni in Australia goes in the direction of intensifying relations between Italy and Australia, and I am sure that it will put its best efforts to achieve the goals set. My good luck goes to the president of the Australia section, Giovanni Patti, good work.”
CONFASSOCIAZIONI President Angelo Deiana said, “The inauguration of the Australia branch of Confassociazioni underscores our confederation’s commitment to enhancing the contribution of Italian communities abroad. The opening of this new branch testifies to the desire to strengthen Confassociazioni’s global network, with the goal of becoming a confederation of professional associations at the international level. We are working on establishing other foreign branches, aware of the great potential of Italian communities around the world. We want to create new opportunities for exchange and collaboration between professionals and businesses in the various countries where we are present.”
Carmelo Cutuli, Vice President of Confassociazioni International with responsibility for North America and Australia, added. “I wish good work to President Giovanni Patti and the entire team of Confassociazioni Australia on this new and exciting project. The opening of a branch in Australia represents a milestone in the international growth of Confassociazioni; Italy and Australia are united by historical ties and strong business relationships. I am sure that Confassociazioni Australia, strengthened by the professionalism of its team, will be able to create new synergies between professionals and businesses in the two countries, fostering the exchange of skills and experiences.”
“I believe,” pointed out Confassociazioni Australia President Giovanni Patti, “that the strong relations between Italy and Australia have greatly contributed to a very strong bond between the two countries. Italy and Australia share a long history of friendship and cooperation, which is also proven by the large and very well integrated Italian community in Australia. Confassociazioni is actively engaged in strengthening these ties through the promotion of Made in Italy, the organization of initiatives aimed at fostering commercial and cultural exchanges between the two countries, as well as in making the respective communities increasingly involved in the opportunities that arise in Australia and/or Italy. It is my sincere hope, as president of Confassociazioni Australia, that relations between Italy and Australia can continue to develop by also finding further tools for integration and cooperation that can further strengthen an already solid bond.”
The Australian Branch of Confassociazioni is part of the internationalization strategy of CONFASSOCIAZIONI (Pres. Angelo Deiana) and Confassociazioni International (Pres. Gianni Lattanzio) and joins the other international branches: Canada (Pres. Paolo Quattrocchi); Spain (Pres. Francesco Perniciaro); UAE (Pres. Guido Sperzaga); UK (Pres. Stefano Potortì); and USA (Pres. Claudio Frasca).
“We are certain,” Deiana concludes, “that the Australia branch will be able to make a valuable contribution to the promotion of Italian culture and entrepreneurship. We wish good work to President Patti and the whole team, certain that this new reality will be able to enhance the skills and excellence of the Italian community in Australia.”
