L’Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America si espande in Italia: nasce il Capitolo OSDIA “Pantheon” di Roma
Durante la visita ufficiale in Italia dei vertici dell’Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA), si è tenuta a Roma la cerimonia di consegna del certificato di affiliazione (charter) del nuovo capitolo “Pantheon”. La presidente del nuovo capitolo, Arch. Patrizia Bernardette Berardi, ha ricevuto il certificato insieme ai co-fondatori Dott. Carmelo Cutuli e Prof. Enzo Siviero ed i 25 soci (charter members).
Il capitolo “Pantheon” è una delle tre unità territoriali attive in Italia di questa storica organizzazione italoamericana. Fondata a New York nel 1905 dal Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro, originariamente con il nome di “Figli d’Italia in America”, l’organizzazione è oggi nota come “Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America” ed è capillarmente rappresentata in tutti gli Stati Uniti e Canada.
Una delegazione guidata dal Presidente dell’OSDIA, Michael G. Polo, composta dal Presidente della Sons of Italy Foundation, Joseph Sciame, il National 1st Vice President, Thomas A. Lupo, il National 3rd Vice President, Dr. Mark DeNunzio, la National Executive Director, Shayla Kaestle, e il co-chair del National Membership Committee, Dan Kaestle, ha consegnato la Charter durante un ricevimento in una location romana vicino alla Fontana di Trevi. Presente alla cerimonia di consegna anche Mons. Renzo Giuliano, che ha impartito la benedizione ai presenti, augurando al Capitolo un futuro ricco di iniziative nel nome dei rapporti tra i due Paesi.
“È con grande passione,” ha dichiarato l’Arch. Patrizia Bernardette Berardi, Presidente del Capitolo OSDIA Pantheon, “che il nostro gruppo si dedica alla promozione della cultura e delle tradizioni italiane oltreoceano, attraverso la diffusione di studi sull’arte e la bellezza che il nostro paese ci ha regalato. Abbiamo un patrimonio inesauribile che vogliamo far conoscere e valorizzare attraverso la cooperazione tra università italiane e americane. Il nostro è un progetto ambizioso ma di grande valore per consolidare il prestigio dell’Italia, con particolare riferimento al Nord America.”
La delegazione OSDIA ha espresso grande soddisfazione per questa nuova unità operativa nella Capitale, che ha già in programma un ricco calendario di attività culturali e artistiche volte a rafforzare i legami tra Italia e Stati Uniti.
“È con grande orgoglio e soddisfazione,” aggiunge il past president Carmelo Cutuli, fondatore del primo capitolo italiano ed autore del libro “Vincenzo Sellaro e i Figli d’Italia in America, “che diamo il benvenuto al Capitolo Pantheon dell’OSDIA, il 3014esimo dalla fondazione dell’Ordine dei Figli d’Italia in America nel 1905 e il terzo dall’insediamento del primo capitolo in Italia nel 2019. Questo traguardo rappresenta un importante passo avanti nella nostra missione di promuovere e preservare l’eredità italiana nel mondo. Con una base di 25 soci e sotto la guida della Presidente Patrizia B. Berardi, nota per il suo impegno nella promozione di iniziative culturali e artistiche, siamo certi che il Capitolo ‘Pantheon’ contribuirà in modo significativo a rafforzare i legami tra Italia e Stati Uniti e a celebrare la ricchezza della nostra comune eredità.”
L’Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, con oltre un secolo di storia alle spalle, si impegna a promuovere e preservare l’eredità italiana negli Stati Uniti, favorendo gli scambi culturali e il sostegno alle comunità italoamericane. L’apertura del nuovo capitolo a Roma rappresenta un ulteriore passo avanti nella missione dell’organizzazione, gettando un ponte tra le due sponde dell’Atlantico.
The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America expands in Italy: the OSDIA “Pantheon” Chapter in Rome is born
During the official visit to Italy of the leaders of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA), a ceremony was held in Rome to present the certificate of affiliation (charter) of the new ‘Pantheon’ chapter. The president of the new chapter, Arch. Patrizia Bernardette Berardi, received the certificate together with co-founders Dr. Carmelo Cutuli and Prof. Enzo Siviero and the 25 charter members.
The ‘Pantheon’ chapter is one of three territorial units active in Italy of this historic Italo-American organisation. Founded in New York in 1905 by Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro, originally under the name ‘Sons of Italy in America’, the organisation is now known as the ‘Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America’ and is widely represented throughout the United States and Canada.
A delegation led by OSDIA President, Michael G. Polo, and composed of the President of the Sons of Italy Foundation, Joseph Sciame, National 1st Vice President, Thomas A. Lupo, National 3rd Vice President, Dr. Mark DeNunzio, National Executive Director, Shayla Kaestle, and National Membership Committee Co-Chair, Dan Kaestle, presented the Charter at a reception in a Roman location near the Trevi Fountain. Also present at the handover ceremony was Bishop Renzo Giuliano, who imparted the blessing to those present, wishing the Chapter a future full of initiatives in the name of relations between the two countries.
“It is with great passion,” said Patrizia Bernardette Berardi, President of the OSDIA Pantheon Chapter, “that our group is dedicated to the promotion of Italian culture and traditions overseas, through the dissemination of studies on the art and beauty that our country has given us. We have an inexhaustible heritage that we want to make known and enhance through cooperation between Italian and American universities. Ours is an ambitious but valuable project to consolidate the prestige of Italy, with particular reference to North America.”
The OSDIA delegation expressed great satisfaction with this new operational unit in the Capital, which is already planning a rich calendar of cultural and artistic activities aimed at strengthening ties between Italy and the United States.
“It is with great pride and satisfaction,” added Past President Carmelo Cutuli, founder of the first Italian chapter and author of the book Vincenzo Sellaro and the Sons of Italy in America, “that we welcome the Pantheon Chapter of OSDIA, the 3014th since the founding of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America in 1905 and the third since the establishment of the first chapter in Italy in 2019. This milestone represents an important step forward in our mission to promote and preserve the Italian heritage around the world. With a membership base of 25 and under the leadership of President Patrizia B. Berardi, known for her commitment to promoting cultural and artistic initiatives, we are confident that the ‘Pantheon’ Chapter will contribute significantly to strengthening ties between Italy and the United States and celebrating the richness of our common heritage.”
The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, with more than a century of history behind it, is committed to promoting and preserving the Italian heritage in the United States, fostering cultural exchanges and supporting Italian-American communities. The opening of the new chapter in Rome represents a further step forward in the organisation’s mission, building a bridge between the two sides of the Atlantic.
