I tormentoni estivi di quest’anno in Italia
In questa settimana prima di Ferragosto, e dopo tre articoli impegnativi, vogliamo dare ai nostri lettori, particolarmente quelli all’estero, i ritmi musicali di quest’estate in Italia, non solo per rilassarci con brani divertenti ma anche per capire che la musica italiana non si limita solo a quei pochi brani che sono conosciuti all’estero.
In un recente articolo abbiamo parlato del fenomeno musicale italiano dei “tormentoni”, cioè delle canzoni di ogni anno che hanno segnato le vacanze estive degli italiani da decenni ormai.
In quell’articolo abbiamo trattato quattro canzoni che hanno celebrato l’aspetto centrale di questo periodo, il mare.
Già domenica scorsa le autostrade erano colme di villeggianti partiti per le loro mete preferite per passare settimane di relax in centri turistici lungo la costa italiana in tutte le regioni, quindi hanno indubbiamente viaggiato in auto con le radio accese per poter passare i lunghi tempi di viaggio con brani nuovi e vecchi, visto che molti dei tormentoni del passato sono ancora popolari e suonati regolarmente alla radio e anche alla televisione.
Il primo brano che vogliamo presentare ha come titolo non solo un film leggendario italiano, ma anche l’augurio di tutti coloro che partono per le vacanze.
Con il loro “La Dolce Vita” il trio di Tananai, Fedez e Mara Sattai hanno proposto un brano per tutte le età perché il suo ritmo diverte da solo, anche per i lettori all’estero che non capiscono le parole.
Questo successo ci dimostra anche il potere dei social perché Fedez in particolare, insieme alla sua compagna Chiara Ferragni hanno saputo utilizzare i social, lui da cantante e lei da influencer, per assicurarsi un posto altissimo nella vita quotidiana degli italiani.
E nel guardare il video ufficiale sotto il lettore che non ha mai passato un’estate al mare in Italia vedrà quel che aspetta il turista straniero che decide di fare le vacanze estive nel Bel Paese, che offre una varietà di attrazioni che va ben oltre le solite tre città che presentiamo fin troppo spesso al mondo da decenni….
Il secondo brano è “Tribale” (video sotto) della cantante romana Elodie che ha avuto come rampa di lancio un popolare “talent show” della televisione italiana, per poi confermare le sue capacità al Festival della Canzone Italiana di San Remo del 2017 con “Tutta colpa Mia” scritto da un’altra cantante italiana, Emma, che ha vinto il disco di platino.
“Tribale”, come gli altri brani di questo articolo, confermano la tendenza dei tormentoni di presentare pezzi ballabili e molto orecchiabili per tutti.
Il terzo brano è di un complesso con un nome che è già un divertimento i “Pinguini Tattici Nucleari” di Bergamo ed il nome si ispira ad una birra scozzese potentissima. Dopo anni di gavetta per le province il complesso bergamasco ha avuto il suo giusto riconoscimento al Festival di San Remo del 2020 con “Ringo Starr” e nel corso della manifestazione il complesso ha avuto il gradimento anche della critica, cantando anche brani classici della musica leggera italiana, che dimostrando le loro capacità musicali. Anche questo gruppo ha saputo utilizzare i social per ottenere successo.
Il titolo della loro “Giovani Wannabe” è un bel gioco di parole che mette insieme una parola italiana con una inglese.
Ma nel leggere il testo della canzone vediamo riferimenti sorprendenti a Jimi Hendrix, “I Fiori del Male” di Baudelaire e altri aspetti sociali e culturali che fa capire che i ragazzi non sono degli sciocchi e che il brano divertimento fornisce anche spunti interessanti e giochi di parole rendendo la canzone non più solo un pezzo da ballare in discoteca.
Ed il quarto brano mette insieme il complesso pugliese Boombadash e la cantante Annalisa con “Tropicale” (video sotto). Boombadash è nato come un gruppo reggae che si sente nel brano e ha partecipato a manifestazioni musicali in tutta l’Europa e non solo in Italia. La cantante che li accompagna è la cantautrice Annalisa che nel corso della sua carriera ha vinto molti premi per la sua musica, non solo a livello italiano, ma anche a livello europeo.
E nel presentare questo elenco breve dei tormentoni principali dell’estate italiana del 2022 non vogliamo solo indicare la nuova versione della tradizione di questo genere che ora ha oltre sessant’anni.
Vogliamo fare capire, in modo particolare ai nostri lettori all’estero, che la musica italiana ha una varietà enorme di cantanti, complessi e parolieri che riflette la varietà e la grandezza della nostra Cultura.
Infatti, si tende a considerare il nostro Patrimonio Culturale con una selezione limitata di luoghi e personaggi. Il risultato di questa visione limitata è che nell’alta stagione Roma, Firenze e Venezia sono stracolme di turisti stranieri e città importanti a livello culturale mondiale come Mantova, Arezzo, Urbino, Ferrara e moltissime altre in tutta la penisola hanno pochi turisti, e quindi non hanno i mezzi per potere mantenere nel modo migliore i moltissimi tesori che custodiscono, senza dimenticare i posti di lavoro che verrebbero con i turisti…
Allora godiamoci questi brani perché sono veramente divertenti, ma nel divertirci ricordiamoci anche che non sono altro che una piccola selezione di un aspetto della nostra Cultura che troppi sottovalutano, soprattutto molti degli addetti dei lavori, semplicemente perché considerano sola l’Alta Cultura degna di promozione, ignorando gli altri aspetti che sono anche degni d’essere riconosciuti dal mondo intero…

In this week before Ferragosto, Italy’s major summer holiday on August 15, and after three intense articles, we want to give our readers, especially the ones overseas, a taste of this summer in Italy, not only to relax with entertaining songs but also to understand that Italian music is not limited only to the few performers who are known overseas.
In a recent article we spoke about the Italian musical phenomenon of the “tormentoni” as the songs released every year that have marked the summer holidays of Italian for decades are called.
In that article we wrote about four songs that celebrated the central aspect of this period, the sea.
On Sunday the highways were already overflowing with holidaymakers who had left for their preferred destinations to spend weeks of relaxation in tourist centres along Italy’s coast in all the regions and therefore they undoubtedly travelled in their cars with the radios on to be able to pass the long travel times with new tracks and also old ones since many of the “tormentoni” of the past are still popular and played regularly on the radio and also on television.
The first song we want to present has as its title not only a legendary Italian film but also the wish of all those who leave for their holidays.
With their “La Dolce Vita” the trio of Tananai, Fedez and Mara Sattai offer a song for all ages because its rhythm is fun on its own, even for the overseas readers who do not understand the words.
This hit also shows us the power of the social media because Fedez in particular, together with his partner Chiara Ferragni, know how to use the social media, he as a singer and she as an influencer, to ensure a very high place in the daily lives of Italians.
And in watching the official video the reader who has never spent a summer at the sea in Italy will see what awaits the foreign tourist who decides to spend the summer holidays in Italy which offers a variety of attractions that go far beyond the usual three cities that we have been presenting to the world all too often for decades…
The second piece is “Tribale” (video below) of the Roman singer Elodie who had a popular talent show on Italian television as her launching pad to then have her talents confirmed in the 2017 San Remo Festival of Italian Music with “Tutta Colpa Mia” (All My Fault) written by another Italian singer, Emma, and that achieved platinum status.
Like the other songs in this article “Tribale” confirms the trend of the “tormentoni” to present songs that are danceable and very catchy for everyone.
The third article is by a group with a name that is already fun, “Pinguini Tattici Nucleari” (Tactical Nuclear Penguins) from Bergamo, a name inspired by a very powerful Scottish beer.
After years of apprenticeship around the provinces the group found its rightful recognition in the 2020 San Remo Song Festival with “Ringo Starr” and during the event they were recognized by both the public and the critics when they also sang classic Italian pop songs that demonstrated their obvious musical skills. And this group too was able to use the social media to achieve success.
The title of their “Giovani Wannabe” (Young Wannabes) is a nice play of words that combines an Italian word with an English one.
But on reading the song’s lyrics we see surprising references to Jimmy Hendrix, “Le Fleurs du Mal” by Baudelaire and other social and cultural aspects that let us understand that they are not fools and that the enjoyable song also provides interesting talking points and plays of words that mean that the song is more than a track to dance to in the disco.
The fourth track brings together the group Boombadash from Puglia and the singer Annalisa with “Tropicale” (video below). Boombadash was created as a reggae group, that we hear in the song, and participated in musical competitions throughout Europe and not only Italy. The singer who accompanies them is the singer-songwriter Annalisa who, in the course of her career, has won many prizes for her music, not only at an Italian level but also at a European level.
And in presenting this short list of the main hits of this year’s summer in Italy we do not want to simply point out the new version of the tradition of the “tormentoni” that is now over sixty years old.
We want to make it clear, especially to our readers overseas, that Italian music has a huge variety of singers, groups and lyricists that reflects the variety and the greatness of our Culture.
In fact, there is a tendency to limit the consideration of our Cultural Heritage to a small selection of places and people. The result of the limited vision is that in the high season Rome, Florence and Venice are full of foreign tourists and major cities at a world level culturally such as Mantua, Arezzo, Urbino, Ferrara and very many others have few tourists and therefore they do not have the means to be able to maintain in the best way possible the multitude of treasures that they keep, without forgetting the jobs that would also come with the tourists…
So, let us enjoy the songs because they really are entertaining but in enjoying ourselves let us remember that they are only a small selection of an aspect of our Culture that too many people underestimate, above all our experts, simply because they consider only High Culture worthy of promotion while ignoring the other aspects that are also worthy of being recognized around the world…
