Luca Parmitano: dallo spazio al Comicon e ritorno

La NASA ha da poco indicato i nomi dell’equipaggio della missione Artemis III e l’Italia sarà presente con uno dei suoi più noti e dinamici astronauti, Luca Parmitano. Parmitano, primo italiano ad aver ricoperto il ruolo di comandante della Stazione Spaziale Internazionale (ISS) con un totale di 366 giorni trascorsi in orbita, rappresenta una delle figure più note ed autorevoli del settore aerospaziale globale. Attualmente impegnato a Houston come ufficiale di collegamento tra NASA ed ESA per il programma lunare Artemis, l’astronauta ha di recente incontrato il pubblico e la stampa al COMICON Napoli, una città che ben conosce per aver frequentato sia l’Accademia Aeronautica di Pozzuoli che l’Università Federico II.
Parmitano si è ben integrato ed è apparso a proprio agio nello spirito di un festival che celebra l’immaginario e la frontiera nella cultura Pop. L’astronauta prima ha dialogato con il fumettista Leo Ortolani e il musicista Caparezza, intrecciando scienza, arte e satira. Poi ha tenuto una conferenza dialogo interamente dedicata alla sua esperienza nello spazio e alle sfide future dell’esplorazione umana. Infine, ha firmato, per i numerosi fan, libri e pubblicazioni.
Rispondendo alle domande, è emersa una persona schietta, che ricorda i suoi sogni di adolescente ma è ben ancorato ad un presente di alta professionalità. Incontri sentiti e partecipati per portare alle nuove generazioni, certamente anche pensando alle sue figlie, il gusto della sfida ma anche l’importanza dei sogni, il “che cosa vorrei diventare” che purtroppo oggi sembra trasformato in “come dovrò accontentarmi”.
Un esempio di professionista che pur nella indiscussa notorietà non dimentica il lato umano e la dimensione relazionale, cercando di coniugare con equilibrio tecnica, scienza e immaginazione. Una miscela molto potente, che ha attratto i numerosi giovani che hanno partecipato agli incontri. Dallo spazio al Comicon e poi di nuovo allo spazio, con quella dose di equilibrio e umanità che da lustro all’Aeronautica Militare, all’ESA e alla illustre storia italiana nel campo aerospaziale. Un contributo per riaccendere luce e prospettive in un futuro che sembra sempre più spesso in balia del pessimismo e delle previsioni più negative.
Luca Parmitano: from space to Comicon and back

NASA has recently indicated the names of the crew of the Artemis III mission and Italy will be present with one of its most famous and dynamic astronauts, Luca Parmitano. Parmitano, the first Italian to have held the role of commander of the International Space Station (ISS) with a total of 366 days spent in orbit, is one of the best-known and most authoritative figures in the global aerospace sector. Currently engaged in Houston as liaison officer between NASA and ESA (European Space Agency) for the Artemis lunar program, the astronaut recently met the public and the press at COMICON Naples, a city he knows well for having attended both the Aeronautical Academy of Pozzuoli and the Federico II University.
Parmitano has integrated well and appeared at ease in the spirit of a festival that celebrates the imaginary and the frontier in Pop culture. The astronaut first talked with the cartoonist Leo Ortolani and the musician Caparezza, intertwining science, art and satire. Then he held a conference dialogue entirely dedicated to his experience in space and the future challenges of human exploration. Finally, he has signed books and publications for his many fans.
Answering questions, a frank person emerged, who remembers his dreams as a teenager but is well anchored to a present of high professionalism. Heartfelt and participated meetings to bring to the new generations, certainly also thinking of his daughters, the taste for the challenge but also the importance of dreams, the “what I would like to become” which unfortunately today seems transformed into “how I will have to settle”.
Parmitano is an example of a professional who, despite his undisputed notoriety, does not forget the human side and the relational dimension, trying to combine technique, science and imagination with balance. A very powerful mixture, which attracted the many young people who participated in the meetings. From space to Comicon and then back to space, with that dose of balance and humanity that gives prestige to the Italian Air Force, ESA and the illustrious Italian history in the aerospace field. A contribution to rekindle light and perspectives in a future that seems, more and more often, at the mercy of pessimism and the most negative forecasts.
