Columbus Day and Italian Festival a Dallas, unico evento significativo nel sud degli Stati Uniti
Si è celebrato in un caldo pomeriggio presso il Klyde Warren Park nel cuore del centro di Dallas, la ricorrenza del Columbus day.
A dare il benvenuto e ad aprire il programma il master cerimoniale Jay Lombardo, che ha introdotto Diego Fresquez per gli Inni Nazionali. A dare i saluti istituzionali e proveniente da Houston il Console Generale Mauro Lorenzini che dopo aver ringraziato gli organizzatori dell’evento, ha evidenziato come sia importante celebrare la giornata di Colombo, e come ci sia un forte legame tra l’Italia e gli USA. Presenti anche i rappresentanti del Comites Antonio Iocchi e Alessandro Pauri, ed il corrispondente consolare a Dallas Richard Gussoni.
Nel mezzo del verde e tra i musei di arte, circondati dai grattacieli, un palcoscenico che ha visto artisti di talento come Chessy Silvana Jaramillo, che con il suo repertorio italiano classico di canzoni popolari ha surriscaldato la platea, e Cesare Rascel che con uno stile unico di jazz e swing ha riportato con classe, dopo un breve racconto, le canzoni più famose che furono scritte dal padre Renato Rascel.
A portare una energia travolgente tra il pubblico la straordinaria esibizione dell’Orchestra Emerald City All Stars, che è riuscita a coinvolgere l’audience con balli di gruppo.
A conclusione della giornata, il Chairman della manifestazione Vincenzo Arcobelli ha voluto ringraziare i rappresentanti istituzionali, l’Associazione dei Siciliani in Texas, la CSNA e il CTIM, i volontari, gli artisti, Dino Taglioli fondatore dell’Emerald City Band, e tutti i partecipanti.
“Ritengo che questa giornata straordinaria rappresenti non solo la difesa della nostra identità e di mantenere viva la storia ed il giusto riconoscimento al contributo della comunità Italo-Americana in questa grande Nazione, ma anche la condivisione in un’atmosfera festosa, di un evento per tutte le età con tradizioni italiane, ideale e ricco di cultura, musica e spirito comunitario.
Siate orgogliosi di essere Italiani, e siate orgogliosi di essere Americani”.

The Columbus Day celebration took place on a warm afternoon at Klyde Warren Park in the heart of downtown Dallas. The master of ceremonies, Jay Lombardo, opened the program by introducing Diego Fresquez for the national anthems. Official greetings were delivered by Consul General Mauro Lorenzini from Houston, who, after thanking the event organizers, emphasized the importance of celebrating Columbus Day and highlighted the strong bond between Italy and the USA. Also present were representatives of Comites, Antonio Iocchi and Alessandro Pauri, and Dallas consular correspondent Richard Gussoni.
Amid the greenery and surrounded by art museums and skyscrapers, a stage showcased talented artists like Chessy Silvana Jaramillo, who captivated the audience with her classic Italian folk song repertoire, and Cesare Rascel, who, with a unique jazz and swing style, performed famous songs written by his father, Renato Rascel, after sharing a brief story.
The Emerald City All Stars Orchestra delivered an electrifying performance, engaging the audience with group dances.
At the conclusion of the day, the event Chairman, Vincenzo Arcobelli, thanked the institutional representatives, the Association of Sicilians in Texas, CSNA, CTIM, volunteers, artists, Dino Taglioli (founder of the Emerald City Band), and all participants.
“I believe this extraordinary day not only represents the defense of our identity and keeping history alive, along with the rightful recognition of the Italian-American community’s contribution to this great nation, but also a shared, festive atmosphere for an event suitable for all ages, rich in Italian traditions, culture, music, and community spirit.
